To showcase both established and up-and-coming companies in the battery metals and mining space, the Kinvestor Network is hosting its first-ever Battery Metals and Mining Conference, a premiere virtual event that provides investors with the chance to interact virtually with companies in this critical industry.

Looking forward, besides an increase in users, researchers expect an increase in battery capacity to be the main driver of the industry, projecting that the typical EV battery will have a capacity of over 2,700 GWh by 2030.

With over 7,800 copper-bearing occurrences throughout the province and hosting more than 7 million tonnes of copper reserves in producing mines, British Columbia is home to several junior mining companies with promising copper discoveries.

Commodity Culture host Jesse Day sat down with Galen McNamara of Summa Silver, a Canadian silver explorer with properties in Nevada and New Mexico, to discuss current trends in the silver space and where he sees the commodity headed in the future.

The mining industry is central to the province’s economy. Besides being the largest producer of copper and steelmaking coal, BC is Canada’s only producer of molybdenum and the second largest producer of silver.

“Producing advanced batteries and components here at home will accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels to meet the strong demand for electric vehicles, creating more good-paying jobs across the country,” said Secretary Granholm.
